Relief Carving
Tom was back from Scotland today, was good to see him. Very helpful today.
I started off focusing on the left side again before Tom quickly said to start on the other pipe folds. They were very flat compared to the side I had been working on so needed a lot of attention.

I used a flat to go over some of the folds, to give it some rigidity. This meant I didn’t get sucked into subtlety, which I can always add later.
Carving was good in the cutting room today, got the background roughed in, added undulation to the pipes on the right and steepened curves to give the drapery more movement. Which is hard in low relief. Getting more confident with the air tool, will probably get the trigger one as I’m not sure I prefer the set up of the one that’s constantly on.
