Torso Modelling
Started taking measurements on the model, plotting coordinates on the body. We will be modelling a three quarter torso.
Started with a plumb line, finding points from there. Can start from the front or the back, depending on the key points of the pose. Points of reference would be, sternum, navel, folds of flesh, etc. plot stable measuring points on the model. (When plotting on the model make sure they’re not allergic to anything your using to mark points).
Try to make the armature and model are as close to level as possible.
We took all the measurements to build the armature, normally we would make sure the back iron come out in a simple area like the buttocks, however the ones we’re using were designed for a full size two thirds model so will come out in the mid back on ours.
Something to bare in mind is where the limbs finish as we’re only doing the torso, will make the aluminium poke out the limbs before cutting the clay back.
