Another in between day. Spent the AM working on small makers for third year projects, just sketches and the sort, and put up my research to talk to Kim.
Kim gave some sound advice, model lots of smaller versions, to help set yourself up to work quickly and simply, so you already know what you’re doing. Will continue this quick modelling as much as possible. Similar to drawing faces, just do it a lot.
After a couple of hours of this I went back to the casting room to re try the wax for the Käthe Kollwitz. Went well. Used a lower temp wax this time, Phoebe helped a lot, very hands on (she said this was her favourite part so that probably helped). Once the first layer was brushed in spent the time up till lunch thickening the layers with almost solid wax, making sure not to over heat the wax already down and to give at least four millimetres all over. Holding it up to the light so nothing was shiny through.
Once this was done we cut the wax into three parts for the casting, using a hot Stanley to make the incision as thin as possible.

Did a little drawing at home, just to bulk out work.

Edit: I actually did these at around five AM the following day.
