25 – April – 22

Torso Modelling

Started the day by checking all measurements from previous days. Will go onto do this everyday.

Started looking at the upper torso and shoulders. The relationship between clavicle and traps.

We lowered Phil off the spinning plinth and then took our models off the clay stands and put them on the floor so we could look over them and give a different angle. Build a stronger picture of what is going on there.

We measured the distance from the back sternum to the C7, and then took a forty five degree turn inwards. This was demonstrated with a plum line.

We worked around the this area finding the edges of the shoulder blade plane (on the right hand side).

We drew on the ‘weight line’ with a plum-bob, this has replaced the centre line we drew on first. We will build from here to give our model movement.

Kim said to resist urge to ‘thicken areas until absolutely necessary. Will avoid us making ‘blobs’.

There is little movement at the top of the bony, it’s fairly stable.

Think in abstracts, this is a block of geometry, not a figure.

Lastly we built the distance from the back of the armpit to the front.

The following photos are from the end of the day.
