Charlotte Howarth’s Workshop

Design and layout has changed dramatically since the start but I’m now much happier with both forms and layout. Rough day but work was good.

Spent the first portion of the day working on letterforms with white chalk before rubbing this back and reworking the spacing. From here I made most of the letters bigger to tighten up the negative space, although the letterforms were fine there were too many rivers running through the design. Spent the last couple of hours, once I was happy, using a fine pencil to refine the forms ready to carve.

Will have the whole piece ready to carve by end of play tomorrow.
