The Craxford Snelling Workshop

Solidarity Started cutting letters to the line. Getting the larger negative space in to a finished standard. Struggling as the surface is so rough. Very slow.

Solidarity Continued roughing out, mostly with a half inch bullnose in the end. Rochester Lettering Cut one deeper, now it’s done. Happy with it just hope they are now.

Solidarity Finished drilling then moved straight into carving the letters. Much tougher than V cuts and it’s taking a long time.

Solidarity Continued drilling. Started roughing out letters while I waited for battery to recharge. Very dull day but the carving was a good break.

Solidarity Got it on the stone first thing. Had to use my previous drawings to help guide me joining the chalk dots. spent the rest of the day drilling around the letters. Got about 1/4 the way through. Hands were hurting, couldn’t use an SDS as the face kept breaking apart.

Solidarity Transferred onto the stone. Thought it hadn’t worked and was too messy with the chalk however using the drawing was about to see what was what, just very confusing due to the tight spacing and condensed lines. Solidarity Finished drawing the inscription on template plastic before pricking through the entire thing ready to use a chalk bag to transfer on Monday.

The Floating One Fixings are drilled and ready to be glued into the angel, ready to take out of cutting room as soon as lettering is out of the way. the Rawl plug will screw into a nut I’ve ground down to fit inside the stone, this will be glued before the plug is tightened…
