The Floating One Good work on shaping the body, progress is good. Still in general form. Hoping to have this done sooner rather than later. Phil’s Portrait Continued with the left side, starting to take better shape but need to focus on bigger planes still.

The Floating One Took a huge amount off the bottom, finally realised it was far too bulky. I’ve realised that a lot this week. Really trying to push myself now. Push what I’m comfortable carving and the speed I do it.

The Floating One Used bush chisels for the first time, nice to work with. Shaped the shoulders but mostay focused on the body and getting this in and ready for detailed drapery. I’ve definitely had worse days carving and considering it was the first day back I’ll take that. Phil Portrait

The Floating One Everything is still very full, have so much to remove. I still somehow manage to convince myself that I’ve ruined it beyond repair constantly. The Floating One Worked the top a lot today. Re-carved the top folds, then working down to the sides and removing some bulk. Trying to get that streamlined look the angel has. Need to talk to tutors Monday but I think I’m on the right track.

The Floating One Spent the brief time in the cutting room working the drapery planes from the newly defined hands. Only the afternoon so not much happened but the angel is slimming down and the progress is visible.

The Floating One Rich said to get the arch shape of the collar (on the underside) in. Define the depth going into the contour of the fold, helping to see the shape of the shoulders too. Carving was overall good, hands are partly defined and in place. Neck and clavicle needs to be finished. The…
