Drawing – RA Good to get out of the flat/my room and do some work, feel stuck in there. Fairly happy with the day’s work, will likely treat as an ongoing project and dip in and out when I can make it down. Maybe think about going in with a different material to get some…

Assessment Both Nina and Heather were fairly unhappy with my work. I need to slow down and pay more care and attention to my work. From masonry to carving. Everything is messy, unfinished and unpolished. The only way to speed up is to do it right in the first place and remember how. Then repeat.

Lettering – Ted Knight Worked on drafts and layouts of a commission for (Red) Ted Knight. Tom said to look at the context of where a piece is going and make sure it all works together and won’t stand out.

Drawing – V&A Carried on with the sustained drawing of the drying lady, started using directional line and heavier/softer lines depending on the weight of the shadow. After finishing the lower inscription I moved back onto finishing the caps. Where I had scratched the “S”, and then on the thins of the “U’s”,…

Lettering – Numerals Continuing from last time we started on non ranging numerals. Worked very fast to get the first draft done, has helped me immensely by pushing myself to be quicker. Letters now flow together and feel freer. Tom notes this set of numerals are much less high contrast which is something I have…

Drapery Drawing In the V&A today, drawing a monument to Thomas Croft, with his widow carved in marble. In the AM I did multiple drawings from different angles to get a feel for the whole form and direction of the drapery in the round. Tom showed me some more abstract drapery found in stain glass…

Drapery Drawing Was told to look at Käthe Kollwitz, took a lot of photos of the book, will go over this weekend and transfer to my own studies. I need to be freer while applying the dark of the compressed charcoal. I took my glasses off to help with this and seemed to work, didn’t…
